Country ham, neighbor’s eggs, garden tomatoes fried– jersey style–like my grandmother taught me–and her mother taught her–and her mother…
Kelly Salasin , August 09
“What has come along to change my mind? Fall, magnificent fall, in all its grandeur, when the maples are blazing with glory, like young romantic poets dying as they are writing their best stuff.”
thank you mild
morning,
tall pines & birch
diving deep into the pond,
sweet country road,
distant honking,
stay geese stay.
Kelly Salasin, late September 09
the pond grasses have turned from green to golden, tugging at my seaside roots
Kelly Salasin
The world has turned from red to pumpkin
pumpkin colored sky upon the birch
pumpkin colored road, all crunchy
pumpkin colored carriage whisking children back to school
pumpkin colored world
made so by the magic wand
of the sun
who offers this last bold act
of color
before we open
into the long
winter night
of white.
